On Friday, November 30th, 2018, the Centennial of Great Romania was also celebrated by the Romanian children enrolled in the Romanian language program at Guardian Angel School in Chicago.
Under the guidance of the two Romanian teachers, Mrs. Sanda Carbune and Mrs. Alina Vance, the children of Ss. Constantine and Elena's Cathedral in Chicago interpreted the anthem of Romania, the play Mos Ion Roată and Vodă Cuza, carols, Romanian poetry and songs. The principal, the teachers and all the children of the school were present at this program of the Romanian children, together with the parents and grandparents of the children.
The Guardian Angel School is an Orthodox Christian school attached to the Greek parish of St. John the Baptist in Chicago and has a complete school curriculum from pre-school cycles to the 6th grade. Starting with the school year 2017-2018, the two Romanian teachers offer Romanian language courses to the 40 Romanian children enrolled in this school.
The school principal congratulated the children and teachers for the beautiful and emotional program presented at this historical moment of the 100th anniversary of the unification of the Romanian provinces in a single state.
