The feast of Epiphany was cause of great joy for the Romanian Orthodox faithful in California. HE Metropolitan Nicolae visited two of the Romanian parishes on the occasion of this great feast. On Saturday, January 6, 2018, Metropolitan Nicolae served the Divine Liturgy and the great blessing of the water at the Elevation of the Holy Cross parish in Upland, CA. The parish priest Fr. Archim. Nicodim Bibarţ and Deacon Valentin Despoiu served along with HE Nicolae. At the time of sermon, Metropolitan Nicolae spoke about God's descent on earth for the re-creation of the world, for the sanctification and renewal of man and all creation. In the afternoon, HE Nicolae served, along with the clergy of the parish, the Sacrament of Baptism for Eleny, the second daughter of Mihai and Elena Gabor.
The next day, Sunday after Epiphany and the feast of St. John the Baptist, Metropolitan Nicolae served the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Archangels parish in Torrance, CA together with the parish priest, Fr. Mihai Cărpenişeanu. Sunday's Gospel was a good opportunity for reflection on the new and wonderful reality brought by Christ: the kingdom of God. Metropolitan Nicolae urged the faithful to the understanding of our Savior's call to enter into the Kingdom of God through repentance. This is a useful urge at the beginning of the year when every Christian makes his plans for himself and family. Also, HE spoke about the mission of St. John, as the Forerunner of the Lord. His Excellency Cosmin Dumitrescu, the Consul General of Romania in Los Angeles, attended the service.
