The meeting of the Eparchial Council of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of the United States took place on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the Eparchial Center in Chicago. Under the presidency of His Eminence Archbishop and Metropolitan Nicolae, the meeting, the first in the new organization of our Metropolia, discussed pastoral and administrative issues.
An important point on the Agenda was the discussion of a project of activities and events within our Archdiocese that would mark in 2018, 100 years from the Great Union. His Eminence Nicolae emphasized the importance of this year and the responsibility our Archdiocese and Metropolia have through its hierarchs, priests and faithful to share religious, historical and cultural values with the American people. The project has several stages and covers different levels of organization of Romanian communities in the USA. The Eparchial Council's recommendation was that this project be discussed with US diplomatic officials in the US to establish a unitary and common framework program that would include major representative events.
The Eparchial Council discussed other pastoral issues, such as receiving priests and new missions in the Archdiocese. It is proposed that the next Congress of the Archdiocese be held in Chicago between June 28 and July 2, 2018
