Seventeen years after the founding of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel parish of Montreal, years full of efforts and accomplishments, the parish priest Constantin Ciubotariu, along with the members of the community participated in the service of the consecration of the church which took place on September 23, 2017.
The service of consecration was performed by His Eminence Nicolae, Metropolitan of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas and His Grace Ioan Casian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada. The hierarchs served with a group of 19 priests, including guests from the other Orthodox jurisdictions and members of the Clergy Association of Québec. Many believers were present at the event.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, at the time of sermon, His Eminence Nicolae emphasized the importance of the event:
"It is important that every community as yours to have its own worship place. Through consecration, this is taken out of the profane universe to be given to God, which renders it to us as a space where believers receive the Holy Sacraments of our Lord Jesus Christ."
His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian also addressed a word in French to those who came from the other communities:
"The Church comprises all past, present and future history. It presents us the work of God in humanity for its preparation, the saving deeds of our Lord Jesus Christ as well as our path to eternity. By the act of consecration, the place of worship enters eternity, as the prayers of the consecration service show", emphasized His Grace.
The final moment was also a joyous occasion through the congratulations addressed to the priest and the parish members for the achievements and efforts made over time. His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae awarded the American Metropolitan Cross to Father Constantin Ciubotariu for shepherding the Romanian Orthodox Parish of Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel of Montreal for seventeen years. The two hierarchs also offered an icon representing the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel, the protectors of the church. The feast concluded with an agape meal attended by all those present at this event.
